OVERVIEW: The Blue Period Collection, a nod to the timeless Picasso, is a culmination of inspiration from projected trends in home and fashion, the Cone Sisters Collection, as well as my summer spent traveling Europe. While researching trends, I discovered a few common themes: Timeless fabrics, a transition from fast fashion to longevity, a union of old and new, a return of tradition, the feeling of calm, the reemergence of neoclassical figures, aquatic colors and motifs, and a shift away from minimalist neutrals to subtle pops of color. In addition, I noticed numerous blue and white fabrics throughout the Crypton archives, which feel as trendy as ever, although they are antiques. Furthermore, as I scrolled through my photos from my summer travels throughout Italy, Spain, and Germany, I noticed blues being a prominent color everywhere from fashion and décor to nature and artwork. I believe blue and white is a timeless color combination, as it finds a place in my grandmother’s, my mother’s, and my sister’s homes – all which have drastically different aesthetics. With this information and inspiration, I have created a collection of patterns I believe addresses trend forecasts, outlasts fast fashion trends and will be loved across generations and styles.
